Iranian Drone Shot Down After nearing US Aircraft Carrier

A plane from an American Aircraft Carrier shot down an Iranian drone Tuesday.

An Iranian drone was shot down by a plane launched from the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72). The drone, which had been identified as a Iranian Shahed-139 was reportedly approaching the carrier “aggressively” and was responded with by being destroyed by a US F-35 fighter jet. The incident occurred as diplomats from both nations have been attempting to arrange peace talks over nuclear weapons.

The recent military buildup by the United States in the middle east has been centered around the USS Lincoln’s strike group. The incident is one that adds to a long list of recent violence stemming from US-Iranian relations, with Iranian boats reportedly harassing US flagged oil tankers, according to Reuters.

No American service people were harmed in the incident.
